Joliet, Illinois (May 30, 2001) - Jerry Toliver, driver of the World Wrestling Federation Pontiac Firebird Funny Car, is anxious to return to Route 66 Raceway where this time last year he set a track record in addition to making a final round appearance.
"Route 66 Raceway is one of the premier facilities that the NHRA competes at. Both WWF Racing teams did very well here last season; I ran the quickest time of the weekend and set a track record with a 4.831 elapsed time and speed of 314.53 miles per hour, qualified number three, and our second car qualified sixth. With the season a third of the way over, we are certainly looking forward to returning to the tracks where we know we run well," said Toliver.
Teamwork, dedication and positive attitudes are all traits the Toliver Racing crew possesses. "With every event we compete in, the WWF Racing team is constantly gaining experience and knowledge. We have a great group of guys on this team who work very well together and their hard work plays a large part in making this team function at a professional level," said Toliver.
"The last time I competed at Route 66 Raceway was during the inaugural race when I was driving an Alcohol Funny Car. This track is definitely a state of the art facility and I am very fortunate to be part of the Toliver Racing team and have the opportunity to race at the Route 66 Nationals in Joliet," said Bartone, driver of the RAW IS WAR/Triple H Pontiac Firebird Funny Car.
Toliver Racing is in its fourth season of competition in the NHRA Drag Racing Series in 2001. Toliver Racing has six wins to its credit as well as a third and fifth place finish in the 2000 season points championship. The Toliver Racing prepared WWF/XFL and RAW IS WAR/Triple H Pontiac Firebirds will be driven by Jerry Toliver and Tony Bartone, respectively.
