YPSILANTI, Mich., (June 20, 2006) -- Scott Kalitta, driver of the Kalitta Air Funny Car in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, and Kalitta Motorsports, based in Ypsilanti, Mich., announced today that team owner and drag racing legend Connie Kalitta will assume the responsibilities of crew chief on their 7,000 horsepower, nitromethane-fueled race car effective immediately.
Also effective immediately, Johnny West has been released from the Kalitta Air Funny Car team.
