Morgan rested and ready for Summit NHRA Southern Nationals
ATLANTA (May 10) – Lucas Oil Pro Stock Ford Mustang driver Larry Morgan made a departure from his normal routine during his downtime before this weekend's 31st annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals.
Instead of locking himself away in his shop for two weeks, Morgan took a long weekend in Washington, D.C. to see the sites.

"I went to the White House and Capitol Hill," Morgan said. "I had a great time with my wife and youngest son. I don't normally do things like that, but we had such a good time I should do this more."
Morgan added that he'll be better prepared next time.
"All I brought was dress shoes," Morgan said. "We walked around so much on that first day, I was ready to call the shop and have them FedEx my Sketchers to me."
Side trips aside, Morgan was soon back to the shop and back to work, putting his engine on the dyno to get it ready for a quick test in Bristol, Tenn., before finally heading down to Atlanta Dragway.
"I'm just looking forward to letting the clutch out," Morgan said. "We've had some clutch issues so we need to test. We believe we've got it all taken care of, but we still need to put some runs on the car."
Morgan said the more little things that he's able to cross off his list, the better he'll feel on race day.
"We're trying to find hundredths of a second and they are hiding in all the little things," Morgan said. "Stuff like that is what keeps me up at night. But my guys have been working their butts off and we'll be fine."
