Herbert's Day Comes to an Early End
LAS VEGAS (April 13, 2008) Doug Herbert and the SnaponFranchise.com Top Fuel team had their NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway come to an early end.
After qualifying in the No. 8 position, Herbert faced Brandon Bernstein in the opening round of eliminations. The first pair to traverse the tricky track, Herbert was out of the gate first with an excellent reaction time (.054 of a second to Bernstein's .073), but a lost cylinder early in the run allowed Bernstein to take the win light (4.63 seconds to 5.70 seconds).
"I had a starting line advantage," said Herbert, "but it just wasn't our day. We dropped a cylinder early and that put us behind.
"This set us back a little, but we will be in there fighting for the championship. We will get back to the shop, regroup, work on some things and come back ready for Atlanta in a few weeks.
"I have faith in this team. They want the championship for Jon and James just as much as I do."
