Jeg Coughlin, Jr and his JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier started race day from the No. 11 qualifying position.

In the opening round Jeg faced off against Allen Johnson. Lane choice went to the Dodge and Jeg rolled the yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier into the right lane.

The starting line advantage went to Jeg by .047 seconds (.020 to .067) and the two-time NHRA Pro Stock champion pair laid it into a holeshot win. The win light went to Jeg by .0214 seconds at the stripe. Jeg posted a run of 6.931 at 198.93 mph.

The second round put Jeg Coughlin and Kurt Johnson head-to-head. KJ grabbed the advantage off of the line by .001 seconds (.030 to .031) in this match up. However, the round win went to Kurt by .0158 seconds at the finish line. Jeg ran a 6.896 at 200.44 mph.

"We made some changes and the car responded the best it had all weekend in the second round," said Jeg. "We did not advance to the next round, but we solved some set up issues we were having. I think we learned something pretty big today and now we will just have to take what we learned and get it done at the next race in Houston."
