TEAM HAMMONDS HOPES THIRD TIME IS A CHARM

(HOLT, Fla., Apr. 6, 2008) - - Team Hammonds hopes The Strip at the Las Vegas Speedway will prove to be a good luck charm for the upcoming SummitRacing,com NHRA Nationals competition, Apr. 10-13. This will be the team's third time competing in Las Vegas.

The team holds a 1-1 qualifying record at the Sin City track. In 2002, they made it to the second round of eliminations, where they lost to Jim Yates, and failed to qualify in 2006. This season, they hope to do just as well as their first time racing there, since they are racking up on the DNQs.

So far this season the team registered three DNQs for elimination Sunday out of four races, and they are hoping turn it around through troubleshooting the mechanical problems that has plagued the Chevy Cobalt. Although they are always pleased with their horsepower, they are concentrating on making sure the car is running in concert so the set-ups will be effective. Due to a problem ranging from tire shake to a fuel distribution faced in past races, making sure the car is mechanically sound is the top priority to achieve the result for which they are looking - to qualify and then pull a win.

In Houston, Team Hammonds missed the qualifying cut by one slot. This weekend, missing the field will not be an option. They are confident in their car and feels it is early enough in the season to still be a viable contender to be a part of the final ten to race for the title.
