Callaway shooting to make a splash in Indy,

CLERMONT, Ind. - Just two weeks after taking his first career win in Scribner, Neb., NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster driver Lee Callaway will be looking to match that success during this weekend's Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at the famed Indianapolis Raceway Park, the biggest event in all of drag racing. This weekend will be the first time Callaway has competed at the event, and he hopes with the tuning assistance of former World Champ Tom Conway, he can make his first trip to Indy a memorable one.

Callaway, from Baytown, Texas, hopes to play off of Conway's experience and success at this event. Conway won the event himself as a driver and recently tuned Jay Meyer to a win there two years ago. Callaway is also excited to be debuting a new state-of-the-art Chuck Haase' wing.

"We are putting Haase's latest wing on this weekend," stated Callaway. "It is the same wing we have been running, just bigger. The Haase' wing already has less drag than most, just that this one will put down more downforce, so we should be able to achieve the same amount of downforce with less wing angle, resulting in less drag. Tom [Conway] is really starting to get a handle on the car, so we are pretty excited."

Callaway, who has ran only one other national event this year, hopes to run his first 5.4 second elapsed time this weekend.

"It's going to take 5.40's to be competitive this weekend," stated Callaway. "I think we have everything in line to run .40's. It will definitely be a boost to the team, and we hope to be a contender."
