White and team ready to do battle at Indy

CLERMONT, Ind. - Winning the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at the famed Indianapolis Raceway Park is the drag racing equivalent of winning the Super Bowl. That is the goal of Marc White and the Bar's Leaks/Etterman Racing Top Alcohol Funny Car team heading into this weekend's event. Just as in the Super Bowl, the race will be a battle of the best of the best, but White and team hope they are up for the challenge.

White, from Glendale Heights, Ill., and team owners George and Jane Etterman of Newaygo, Mich., are excited about racing at the biggest race in drag racing again.

"We haven't raced at Indy in a while," said White. "So we're definitely excited about getting back out there. Its as tough a race as they come because everyone that's anyone runs this race. To win here would be huge. The only thing people remember about a year is who won the championship and who won Indy. Our plan is to just take it one run at a time and do the best for Bar's Leaks."

With a cool front scheduled to move through the Indianapolis area this weekend, White feels it will take mid to low .60's to be competitive this weekend.

"With the hitters that will be here and the cool conditions we'll see by this weekend, you can bet it will take low .60's to go rounds here," commented White. "Hopefully this Bar's Leaks car will be one of them."
