Cory Mac Posts Fast Speed During Phoenix Test Session
PHOENIX, January 27, 2007 -- Cory McClenathan wasted little time showing the potential of the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM Top Fuel dragster during the team's first test outings at Firebird Raceway Saturday, boosting his personal-best speed to 333.16 mph.
"That's a great start to the new season for us," said McClenathan, who was timed in 4.514 seconds on the run. "We are excited because we have a new car and new clutch pieces and they are working like they're supposed to. Everyone on the team is definitely ready to go. Wes (Cerny, crew chief), Tony (Shortall, assistant crew chief) worked hard during the winter. I'm real proud of the guys."
McClenathan's fastest official speed is 332.10 mph. He had speeds of 331.85, 331.28 and 330.88 mph during the Auto Club Finals at Pomona, Calif.
The team plans to continue testing at Firebird through Tuesday. The season-opening CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals is scheduled Feb. 8-11 at Pomona.
