MEDFORD, Ore. - In a year that has been filled with more 'downs' than 'ups' for him, NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car ace Dennis Taylor will be looking to add one more tally in the 'up' category during this weekend's Division 6 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Southern Oregon Dragway in Medford, Ore. There Taylor and his Cooner Wire backed team will be looking to score their first win of the year.
Taylor, who runs his racing safety equipment company Taylor Motorsports in Anaheim, Calif., just hopes for a solid outing this weekend with no 'bugs' to sidetrack them.
"We have worked so hard this year finding so many bugs it is crazy," said Taylor. "We just want to have a good solid weekend. We thought we had turned the corner in Sonoma, but had more problems in Pomona. I really think if this Cooner Wire team can get some breaks, we'll finish out the year pretty strong. We have the car, the team, and the potential."
"At this point in the season, it's time to start trying to get a run on the next season," Taylor continued. "Momentum is key in this sport just like any other, and you can really build a lot by closing the year out strong. All of our sponsors have given us great support this year, and hopefully we can reward them this weekend."
Qualifying will be conducted on Friday for the alcohol cars with three sessions. Final eliminations will be ran on Saturday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
