Determined Troxel says ProCare team ready to make some noise in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE – It's been a rough start to the NHRA season for Melanie Troxel and the ProCare Rx Toyota Funny Car team, but the group is not giving up, not by a long shot.

"These guys have been working almost non-stop since this team was put together," Troxel said. "Despite a lot of hardships, this group of guys has done a great job of keeping their heads up and plugging away.
"Other teams in this situation might turn on each other, but these guys are just working to get better every day."
Troxel and company will try to turn their luck around at this weekend's second annual VisitMyrtleBeach.com NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway. If they reach Sunday's eliminations it will be the first time in four tries that the team has made it to race day.
On the way to Charlotte, Troxel said the team made a quick stop in Georgia for a test.
"We're optimistic about the test session," Troxel said. "(Crew chief) Aaron Brooks is really feeling good about the direction we're heading with the tune-up. We're excited to get to a national event track and see if what we worked on will pan out for us."
Troxel is ready for a challenging weekend. Many times during the season she's faced with the task of racing both a Funny Car and a Pro Mod during the same weekend. This time it's getting the staging procedure for four cars that is the biggest obstacle ahead of her.
"The tree is different and it takes a little bit of getting used to," she said. "I saw the new design of the tree several races ago and it looks 'user friendly' to me. It will take a little adjustment as a driver to think about it a few times before you pull up there and race.
"You have to be aware of the two cars next to you in staging, but once you start it's just like always in drag racing – you zero in on your lane."

Troxel's 2010 highlight happened at zMax Dragway when she won the fall race in her Pro Mod car.
"This is one of the best tracks we go to," Troxel said. "It's a true test of cars and tune-ups. It looks like it will be cool weather conditions while we are there."
