Toliver's ROCKSTAR Energy Drink/AutoZone Toyota Qualifies 12th

MEMPHIS, Sept. 15, 2007 -- Jerry Toliver's 4.887-second run Friday night was his Mid-South Nationals qualifying best and he begins Sunday eliminations from the No. 12 position at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Toliver did run 4.90 in Saturday's qualifying wrap-up, a time, he said, "could have been better except we spun the tires, the engine dropped a cylinder and moved toward the wall, so I shut it off," he said. He squares off against Jack Beckman (No. 5, 4.832 at 313.07) in the first round of eliminations.

"Once again, we are proud of our new association with AutoZone. We are in their hometown and we qualified for the race. That is the first step toward winning the race," said Toliver. "Anyone in Funny Car can win this race and we have a good race car. We think our ROCKSTAR Energy Drink/AutoZone hot rod is ready to win one. We are pretty excited."
