MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Since upgrading his operation over the off season, Federal Mogul Dragster driver Lee Callaway has steadily improved during the 2001 season. After running a career best 5.55 second elapsed time at this past weekend's O'Reilly Nationals in Houston, Callaway hopes to improve on that number during this weekend's NHRA Division 4 Federal Mogul Drag Racing Series Race Four at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Callaway, who owns two preowned car lots in Houston, currently sits fourth in Division 4 points, and hopes a strong showing this weekend will bolster his standings in the division.

"We're just going to go there and try to get the clutch figured out," said Callaway. "We can't keep the car from shaking every pass. Every time we try to step it up, it shakes. We have yet to make a full run without shake. If we can get it to do that, it should run pretty good."

Last year at this event, Callaway ran a 5.63 in with the older style "B" PSI Supercharger. This year, with the new "D" PSI, among other new parts, Callaway hopes to run with the top runners in the class.

"We just hope to improve on our 5.55 best that we previously run," stated Callaway. "That's basically what we're looking to do."

Qualifying begins on Friday at 4 p.m. for the Federal Mogul Dragsters, with two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will be ran on Sunday. Stay tuned to SummitRacing.com's Drag Race Central for round by round updates from Memphis.
