MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Steven Farr will have one more day to establish himself as a qualifier in the Pro Stock Truck program at the NHRA Autozone Nationals in Memphis, Tenn. The freshman driver of the Jerry Haas S-10 pickup is currently unqualified, but feels that the second day will provide a reprieve of the misfortunes that has plagued the team for the last two events.

Still feeling the pains of a DNQ in Topeka, the Colleyville, Texas-based driver was hoping for better results.

Farr opened the first session of qualifications by establishing a baseline with a 7.602/176.65. His lap initially put him in the 15th spot, but a really quick session for the balance of the Pro Stock Truck contingent dropped him to 25th.

The second lap afforded him no reprieve as he had problems right off of the line and coasted a 20.412/36.03. His failure to improve further dropped him down in the pecking order to 30th.

The problem on the second attempt was traced to the inability to get the machine into second gear.

"It wouldn't go into second gear and it usually won't when it gets up on the chip, " explained Haas, who is a multi-time award winning chassis builder and finish tenth in the points as a driver last season. "We are going to stick to our game plan in the remaining two sessions and maybe it will provide the results we are hoping for."
