MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Sometimes a racer has an event where he can enjoy nothing but success. And, well, there's the opposite side of the spectrum. Pro Stock Truck driver Steven Farr knows what it's like to be on either side of the fence. The driver of the Jerry Haas Chevrolet S-10, after reaching the semi-finals earlier in the season in Columbus, must try and soften his second consecutive DNQ at this weekend's NHRA AutoZone Nationals in Memphis, Tenn.
His best run came during the first session of qualifying on Friday. However, it was all downhill after that.
The much cooler conditions of the final session didn't help much as the Colleyville, Texas-based driver made his final attempt at 7 PM in rapidly cooling conditions. He was on a good lap on his final attempt, but was forced to lift at the 1000-foot mark and coast to a 9.717/94.71.
His best came on a baseline run. In the first session of qualifications, Farr established a baseline with a 7.602/176.65. His lap initially put him in the 15th spot, but a really quick session for the balance of the Pro Stock Truck contingent dropped him to 25th.
The second lap afforded him no reprieve as he had problems right off of the line and coasted a 20.412/36.03. His failure to improve further dropped him down in the pecking order to 30th.
His third attempt, which was his first on Saturday, also produced a shut-off.
