Weeping Track Postpones Qualifying at Norwalk
Decision Comes after Five-hour Delay

NORWALK, Ohio, June 27, 2008 -- It did not rain in Norwalk, Ohio, Friday, but the water seeping through the 1320-feet of asphalt and the long shutoff area prevented completion of the first round of Pro qualifying in the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals. Five hours and 20 minutes later, the water wouldn't go away and clean up was stopped.

Dave Connolly and the Cagnazzi Racing Charter Communications/LifeLock Chevy Cobalt team were sent to the pit area twice and recalled each time before NHRA officials and the track clean-up crew abandoned plans to complete the session at 9:20 p.m. Pro Stock Motorcycle was the only category to complete its first run. Seven Pro Stock cars ran before action was halted.

The seepage was caused by more than 13 inches of rain that fell in the Norwalk area in the past week.

Qualifying resumes Saturday with the two scheduled runs when Connolly and seven other Pro Stock entries will be competing in the $50,000 to win K&N Filters Horsepower Challenge. The event is run in conjunction with qualifying. Connolly races Kurt Johnson in the opening round.
