NW: Boise final summary

WINNERS BARR, MCCOY LEAD FIREBIRD RACEWAY TO TEAM TITLE AT NHRA NORTHWEST DIVISION'S SUMMIT SERIES FINALS

BOISE, Idaho -- The top bracket racers from tracks across NHRA's Northwest division were at Firebird Raceway this weekend, vying for team and individual honors and a share of the purse worth $16,000. With two winners on Sunday, the home team from Firebird Raceway earned its fifth overall team title. Nampa resident Derric Barr won the Super Pro title and Aaron McCoy of Meridian won the Sport Compact class to lead the charge.

Barr outran Lyle Hood of Phoenix, Ore., racing for Champion Raceway (Eagle Point, Ore.) in the final. Barr ran 5.335 seconds at 153.26 mph to Hood's 11.331-second, 118.54 mph pass.

In the Pro category, Brian Gittings, Buckley, Wash., racing for Pacific Raceways (Kent, Wash.), wheeled his Tempest to the win over Paul Momeau, Vancouver, Wash., who represented Portland (Ore.) Int'l Raceway.

Derrick Jackson, Carlton, Ore., added points for Woodburn (Ore.) Dragstrip by earning the win in Sportsman. In the final he squared off against Sean Holm, Eagle Creek, Ore., who raced for Madras (Ore.) Dragstrip.

Mike Cragun of Sandy, Utah, racing for Rocky Mountain Raceway (Salt Lake City), won in the Motorcycle/Sled class, ousting another Madras Dragstrip racer, Enes Smith of Madras, Ore. Madras Dragstrip finish second in the team standings on the strength of the two runner-up finishes.

Cragun was also the runner-up in Saturday's Race of Champion's competition. McCoy bested Gerald Patzer, Abbottsford, B.C., who raced for Eagle Motorplex (Ashford, B.C.).
