LOCAL RACERS MAKE IT TO THE FINALS AT AUTO CLUB DRAGWAY'S NHRA LUCAS OIL EVENT

FONTANA, Calif. -- Nearly 500 racers took to the quarter-mile at Auto Club Dragway's NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event this weekend. In end, nine walked away winners. Ontario's Bobby Dye was one of them after taking the win in Top Dragster. The Sportsman Motorcycle final feature two local racers when Aaron Pine of La Mirada, who took the win, and Tony McVey of North Hills, squared off.

In Comp Eliminator Dan Fletcher, who resides in Churchville, N.Y., but claims the Pacific division as his home, drove his '07 Cobalt to the win over Alta Loma's Ross Wilson in his '05 Sunfire. It was Fletcher's second win in three races. Greg Luneack, Vista, Calif., wheeled his '67 Nova wagon to the win in Super Stock beating out Tony Mandella of Upland in his '90 Camaro. The win in Stock Eliminator went to Auburn, Wash., resident Toby Lang in his '69 Chevelle when he beat Las Vegas's Curtis Coulter who was behind the wheel of a '69 Cyclone. Justin Morgan, Concord, Calif., earned the win in Super Comp over another Las Vegas racer, George Garbiso. In Super Gas, NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League graduate Shawn Langdon of Mira Loma, Calif., beat racing veteran Hollis Colleasure of San Dimas. David Adams, Livermore, Calif., earned the win in Super Street, besting Daid Kiesel, Desert Hill, Ariz. Robert Broguiere of Wildomar, Calif., was the Top Sportsman winner, beating out Wayne Newman, Lancaster, Calif., and Dye earned the Top Dragster win by taking out Phoenix's Kevin Kleineweber in the final.

NHRA Pacific division racers head to Fallon, Nev., for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event. Top Gun Raceway will host the series June 14-15.
