Humphreys Too Quick Off Starting Line

CHANDLER, Ariz., Feb. 24, 2008 -- Unhappy with his opening-round performance Sunday at Firebird Raceway, Justin Humphreys shifted his focus to the future -- specifically the next event at Gainesville, Fla., March 13-16.

"We are looking forward to working on our new RaceRedi Motorsports Pontiac G6 so we can get it ready for the Gainesville race," he said. "We will be testing as soon as we can."

He was disappointed, however, following his red-light start against Jeg Coughlin. "I don't know what went wrong," said Humphreys. "This was the first time I ever went red in my driving career, and to go that early was pathetic. We struggled here last year and things didn't go well here this year, either."

He left the line .158-seconds before the green light, giving Jeg Coughlin the victory in 6.637 seconds at 207.69 mph. Humphreys, meanwhile, shut off his engine and coasted to the line in 12.789 seconds.

"I knew we had to get a good start . . . but not that quick."
