Schnitz Improves to 7th

"I think we had a great day," Ryan Schnitz said about the final day of qualifying of the 2006 Pro Stock Motorcycle season. "We did really good. We were third quickest in the third round of qualifying and fifth quickest in the final round." Schnitz qualified seventh overall.

"We had some sprinkles between rounds, which held things up for about a half an hour. The humidity was up for the last round but the air was a little cooler. We slowed down just a bit, which could have been valve springs, so we changed those.

"So far it's been a very relaxed weekend, but the first round tomorrow is gonna be pretty tense," continued Ryan, who runs championship contender Antron Brown in round 1. "It will be a big round, especially for Antron. But we'll take it just like any other round. I hope it ends up that we decide the championship, with me winning the round and Antron losing."

Schnitz has an opportunity to make a move of his own in the points standings. "Coming into this race we're in seventh, 30-something points behind Karen Stoffer and 40 or 41 behind Matt Smith. So we're gonna try and go rounds and hopefully move up to fifth. But tonight we're gonna go eat a good meal. We've got Joe Koenig from Trim-Tex here and we want to do real good for him and do real well in the last race of the season."
