We've got a competitive race car, the car is racing the way we want it to.
LAS VEGAS (April 2) – Following his first round victory in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Series race at the 12th annual SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals, R2B2 Racing owner/driver Roger Burgess returned to the pits with a twinkle in his eye and a devilish grin on his face.
"It's 'Game on' now," Burgess said.
Burgess took the No. 1 qualifier spot and defeated Micke Gullqvist in the first round of Pro Mod eliminations Saturday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Burgess ran a blistering 5.926 second pass at 251.91 mph in the ProCare Rx '53 Corvette to beat Gullqvist who got out of shape before running a 9.268 at 103.23 mph. The elimination run was no fluke was Burgess qualified with a 5.956 at 249.81 mph.
In the second round, Burgess draws Kenny Lang, who beat an R2B2 Racing car driven by Raymond Commisso.
"We've got a competitive race car," Burgess said. "The car is racing the way we want it to."
Lang ran a 6.044 second pass at 241.63 mph to edge out Commisso – the No. 9 qualifier, who crossed the finish line with a 6.146 at 242.76 mph.

Brad Personett chased the tune-up all weekend in his turbocharged ProCare Rx Camaro. He qualified 13th in the field before falling to Rickie Smith in the first round of eliminations.
"On our third qualifying run we broke the clutch," Personett said. "It's more of that stuff that shouldn't happen, happening.
"We were just behind the 8-ball all weekend long. Those little things find their way to get under your skin. Houston can't get here fast enough for us."
Personett ran a 6.168 at 229.00 mph, which wasn't enough to catch Smith, who ran a 5.975 at 239.48 mph.
