SEMI-FINAL FINISH FOR THE ADVANCE AUTO PARTS/ SOLARA!!!

It was a great weekend in Reading, PA for the Advance Auto Parts/ Solara team and Cruz Pedregon. They had the quickest car in qualifying and brought it with them to the show on Sunday.

In the first round of eliminations the team defeated Gary Densham in a very good drag race. The two cars got off the line together and at the finish only 0.022 seconds separated them. The winning ET of 4.191 seconds at 283.49 mph was the quickest run of the round. In the quarter-finals the team put out the quickest run of the day.The elapsed time of 4.172 at 288.77 mph defeated Del Worsham's ET of 4.23.In the semi-finals Cruz got the jump off the line against Jack Beckman but their time of 4.235 at 288.21 was not enough to beat Beckman's 4.192.This weekend marked the fifth time this season the team has made it into the semi-finals.

"It was a good drag race and we put up a fight." said Cruz, "Beckman has a tough car to beat.It would have been nice to win and go on to the finals, but just to make it to the semi's makes it a great weekend. We closed the gap on the number three spot in the points which is what we hoped to do.Now it's on to Indy and time to focus on the biggest race of the year."

The team heads home to enjoy next weekend off.The next event in the NHRA POWERade Series is scheduled for August 27 -- September 1 in Indianapolis, Ind.
