RAIN CANCELS FRIDAY NHRA QUALIFYING
MOHNTON, Pa. (Sept. 15) -- Steady rain forced NHRA officials to cancel Friday's qualifying for the Toyo Tires Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway, which means for Morgan Lucas, his double-duty driving skills will be put to the test between hopping into his Lucas Oil Racing A-Fuel dragster and his 7,000 horsepower Top Fuel dragster.
"All we can do right now is wait for the rain to cease and when the NHRA Safety Safari gets the track dry tomorrow, we'll be ready to go," said Lucas. "We're expecting good things from both race cars and with only two sessions to enter the field, I have to stay focused, but at the same time, I'm looking forward to the challenge."
NHRA officials announced professional qualifying rounds would start at 11 a.m. followed by the second and final session at 2 p.m., weather permitting. The outlook for Saturday's forecast is calling for early showers with clearing in the late morning hours.
