RAIN FORCES POSTPONEMENT OF TOYO TIRES NATIONALS

MOHNTON, Pa. (Sept. 16) --The Morgan Lucas Racing team will be making a return trip back to Maple Grove Raceway as the 22nd annual Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals were rained out and are rescheduled for Sept. 29 - Oct. 1. Pro sessions will be held at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, with final eliminations beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1.

Lucas, who was planning to tackle the enormous task of driving two different drag racing cars over the weekend, summed it up best: "We'll have to pack it all up and head to Dallas. I know the crew guys were looking forward to the weekend off before Richmond, but now with the bad weather this weekend, we don't have much of a choice. We'll be all right."

NHRA officials postponed the event around noon today citing parking for the spectators as the reason for the rescheduling after the region received over five inches of precipitation in 48 hours causing a quagmire for racers and fans.

With the O'Reilly Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex next on the agenda for the Morgan Lucas Racing team, qualifying starts on Friday, Sept. 22, for the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing series with two sessions for the pros at 4:30 p.m. (CDT) and 7:30 p.m. That will be followed by two more rounds of qualifying beginning on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. with the O'Reilly Fall Nationals taking the green light at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24.
