Coughlin Brothers ready for race day.

The second and final day of qualifying ended today for the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. The change in weather conditions proved to be an obstacle to overcome for the "factory hot rods."

A number of rain delays postponed the final qualifying session for almost 4 hours. The Pro Stock cars took to the track at 7:30 PM (EST) under the lights in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

Although there was no change in the qualifying order after the Friday night session, the two sessions on Saturday gave teams a closer look at what will be in store for them on race day. Jeg Coughlin continued to hold down the No. 4 spot and older brother Troy will draw his line in the sand from the No. 10 position.

"We continued to make small measurable changes that have helped our consistency and this should translate into more usable data for race day. We were the second quickest car in the third session and made a very competitive run in the final session. Team Jeg's is looking forward to making some noise tomorrow for all of the great fans here (Maple Grove Raceway Park) and watching on ESPN," commented Jeg.

Jeg Coughlin will face off against Allen Johnson in the opening round. The red-hot driver second generation driver has won four of the seventeen races contested so far this season and sits in the top spot of the NHRA POWERade championship points in Pro Stock.

"Our entire crew has done a great job sharing data all weekend between our two Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavaliers. Just like in most cases two heads are better then one; the same also applies to these cars. Pro Stock is without a doubt as cut throat as it gets and every little bit of data helps. Having such a structured true team environment is a great plus," explained Troy.

Troy Coughlin will go toe-to-toe with fellow Ohio driver and former NBA standout Larry Nance in round one. Last year Troy scored his first NHRA professional victory and successfully defending the title is where the focus will be for him on race day.
