RAIN FORCES POSTPONEMENT OF NHRA READING EVENT

READING, Pa. (Sept. 16, 2006) - The third straight day of persistent rain showers in the Eastern Pennsylvania-area forced NHRA officials to postpone the 22nd running of the Toyo Tires Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway. The race has been rescheduled for Sept. 29-Oct. 1.

Veteran Funny Car driver Tommy Johnson, Jr. has driven his Don "the Snake" Prudhomme-owned Skoal RacingSM Chevy Funny Car to victories at Phoenix and Brainerd, Minn. this season and currently sits sixth in the NHRA Funny Car standings with five events remaining on the 2006 NHRA schedule. The eight-time NHRA winner is one of 13 drivers to have claimed victories in both the Top Fuel and Funny Car categories. He won the Reading event in 1999.

The next NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event is the 21st annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals, Sept. 21-24, at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas near Dallas.
