ROCKINGHAM, NC -- The NHRA Winston Invitational is drag racing’s All-Star Showcase for Top Fuel Dragsters with the top 8-cars earning the opportunity to win $100,000 on Sunday. Paul Romine will get his chance to race for the money, qualifying fifth.

Romine, driving the CARQUEST Auto Parts Top Fuel Dragster covered the quarter-mile at a personal best 4.661 elapsed time at 295.00 mile-per-hour in the final qualifying session.

“I knew it was on one heck of a pass,” Romine said. “It carried the front wheels pass half track and when the left front came down it smoked the tire and I drove it through the finish line.”

In round one Sunday, Romine will face the McDonald’s Top Fuel Dragster of Cory McClenathan. This will be the first career meeting between Romine and McClenathan in final eliminations.
