Jeg and Troy began the final day of qualifying sitting in the No. 5 and No. 14 respectfully. Both drivers began the day with improving on their minds.
Jeg was in the third pair of cars for his third run of the weekend. The car took off and searched for traction when the transmission went into second gear. Jeg did not improve and he slipped down to the No. 11 spot. He ran a 7.079 at 198.41 mph.
"The car started to spin when I put it into second gear and it never fully recovered," said Jeg.
Troy started the third session sitting in the No. 11 slot. By the time Troy pulled into the waterbox he was on the outside looking in. He blasted off of the starting line and cruised down the middle of the groove in the preferred lane. Troy jumped up to the No. 9 position with a run of 6.972 at 198.64 mph.
"I have never qualified in Pro Stock at this track," commented Troy. "It feels good to get this tracks monkey off my back."
In the final session Troy took off like a bullet from the starting line. The car hooked up with the track and never left the middle of the groove in the right lane. Troy ran a 7.004 at 197.42 mph.
"That was the best feeling and looking run that we have made in my car all week," stated Troy. "The conditions that we had during the final session we will most likely see again tomorrow."
Jeg rolled into the left lane for the last session. The yellow and black JEG'S machine rocketed out of the starting line beams with authority. The Olds Cutlass grabbed the track and never let go. Jeg ran an impressive 6.966 at 199.08 mph and made the second quickest run of the session.
"That was a strong run," noted Jeg. "We are ready for raceday. We are back on track and ready for tomorrow."
A total of 27 Pro Stock drivers spent four qualifying sessions battling to be among the "quick sixteen" on raceday. The qualified field is separated by .117 seconds.
Jeg and Troy will battle from opposite sides of the ladder on raceday. The Pro Stock brother duo will work toward meeting in the final round. Jeg landed in the No. 9 position and will line up next to fellow Central Ohio driver Larry Morgan in the opening round. Troy ended up in the No. 10 spot and will face off against Darrell Alderman in round one.
