Herbert Reaches Semifinals in Seattle

Doug Herbert and the SnaponFranchise.com Top Fuel team advanced to the third round of eliminations on Sunday in the 21st annual Schucks Auto Supply NHRA Nationals at Pacific Raceways outside of Seattle.

Round One:

Herbert, the No. 11 qualifier, went up against No. 6 qualifier Larry Dixon in the first round of eliminations. Herbert defeated Dixon with a run of 3.919 versus Dixon's 4.423. Herbert's top speed was 304.87 mph. It was his second-fastest run of the weekend.

Round Two:

In the quarterfinals Herbert was matched against No. 5 qualifier Bob Vandergriff, Jr. Both dragsters lost traction but Doug Herbert drove his way to the finish line first. With a top speed of 234.25, Herbert's ET, 4.380 seconds, beat Vandergriff's 4.814.

Round Three:

Herbert went against Brandon Bernstein, the No. 2 qualifier, in semifinal action. The SnaponFranchise.com dragster had a clutch problem, which caused the tires to smoke. Herbert's 4.380 at 240.85 mph was not enough for Bernstein's 4.262 pass.

"It was a decent day," said Herbert. "Anytime you go to the semifinals it's an okay weekend. We had a good points day because we pulled within 13 points of seventh-place Hillary Will."
