HERBERT TAKES NO. 6 SPOT IN SEATTLE
Seattle (July 21, 2007) Doug Herbert, driver of the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster, qualified in the No. 6 position at the rain soaked Schuck's Auto Supply NHRA Nationals.
After continuous rain showers, all qualifying sessions were cancelled on Friday. With heavy cloud cover and the threat of continuing rain showers, the first round of qualifying action got underway on Saturday around noon.
Herbert piloted the Snap-on Tools dragster down the quarter-mile in 4.63 seconds at 313 mph, placing him in the quick half of the field.
"It's good to get qualified in the top half of the field again," said Herbert. "We will just have to wait and see if the weather cooperates with us. Like I said earlier, we are determined to make a good showing here, and we will do it, whether it's tomorrow or Monday."
The rains came again on Saturday afternoon before the second qualifying session could take place. Herbert stayed in the No. 6 position after the single qualifying effort, and will face Cory McClenathan in first round action.
