Anderson starts from the No. 4 position in Seattle
KENT, Wash. (July 22, 2006) -- As he continue to search for the proper balance on his new KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment-backed Pro Stock Pontiac GTO, Greg Anderson continued to show why he is one of the very best on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing series.
Anderson's best of four qualifying runs, a 6.707 pass in Saturday's first qualifying session, earned the three-time and defending POWERade Pro Stock champion the No. 4 position on the final qualifying ladder. His speed of 206.86 mph in that same run is currently the top speed of the event.
"Both Jason and my Summit Racing Pontiac are running extremely well right now," Anderson said. "We've got two fast cars right now there's no question about it. Jason continues to be dynamite and the hottest car on the racetrack and mine is just a tick behind. It shows us what we can do with these two cars.
"As to the point race, I've said it for a long time we can wait any longer. It's time to get it going. Somebody is going to take off and get on a roll and it need needs to be one or both of these Summit Pontiacs. We've showed the way in the last couple of years and the teams have copied and done their homework. Now we got parity. It's up to us to reassume the lead and make another breakthrough and get back ahead of the pack."
In the opening round tomorrow, Anderson will look over and find Ron Krisher in the other lane. Krisher qualified No. 13 with a best run of 6.730 seconds at 205.54 mph.
Anderson, the Minnesota-native, who now lives in North Carolina, begins his quest for the Schuck's Auto Supply Nationals Pro Stock title on Sunday, July 23, with eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m. Time is local Seattle time (PT) and subject to change at anytime.
