Humphreys Qualifies Fifteenth in Rain-Soaked Seattle Session

KENT, Wash, July 21, 2007 -- The rain in the Seattle area cleared long enough Saturday to allow one qualifying opportunity for the Schuck's Auto Supply Nationals at Pacific Raceways, and Justin Humphreys and the RaceRedi Motorsports/Knoll-Gas Energy Pontiac GTO Pro Stock team tried to make the best of it.

After the morning session, Humphreys was qualified 15th with a run of 6.724 seconds, 205.26 mph. Weather permitting, he'll faceNo. 2 qualifier Allen Johnson (6.671, 206.95) in the first round of eliminations Sunday morning.

"We had a soft first run," Humphreys said. "We didn't expect the track to be as good as it was. We thought it would be wetter, and we underestimated it."

Unfortunately, the team didn't get another chance to try for a better time. The rain started again as the Pro Stock drivers sat in the staging lanes for the afternoon qualifying round, and the session was called off shortly after.

"This was our first trip to rainy Seattle," Humphreys said, "but we were able to take our qualifying streak to four in a row."
