Troy shows resurgence

Troy Coughlin will head to Pacific Raceways coming off of his best performance so far this season. Troy qualified No. 6 and made it to the semifinal round last weekend in Denver at the Mopar Mile High Nationals.

Troy and his yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier are sitting in the No. 16 position in the NHRA POWERade championship. He has 342 points and is 153 points from breaking into the top-ten. Another strong performance this weekend could move Troy as high as the No. 14 spot and string a couple more together and this Pro Stock veteran is back in the top-ten.

"We had a solid weekend as a team," commented Troy. "We have gone through a couple of personnel changes this season and everything has just started coming together lately. I feel great, the team is up beat and now we just need to pick up where we left off when we get to Seattle."

Troy's recent resurgence on the quarter mile battlefield could put him in the position to be the "spoiler" for the drivers ahead of his younger brother Jeg in the NHRA POWERade championship chase. Having both JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavaliers in the field on race day going rounds can help change the current landscape of NHRA's most competitive professional class.

"We are a true two-car team," explained Troy. "Both of our cars were set up as close as they could be to each other and we benefited from that as a team. This is a trend that I see continuing. The rest of the races this season are going to be a lot of fun."
