TASCA LOOKS TO MAKE A MOVE IN SONOMA
SONOMA, Calif. (July 23, 2008) -- With four races until the drivers that will run for the championship are determined, Bob Tasca III knows that he needs to make a big move in the points chase this weekend in Sonoma to move back up inside of the top 10.
"That's what's great about NHRA racing, it's zero to hero and zero to hero from one weekend to another," said the rookie driver of his past two races. "Truthfully, we've got four more races to go and there's a lot that can happen in four races. There are a lot of rounds to be run. Sure, we'd like to be in the top 10 going into Sonoma, but we're going to have to win rounds from here on out to get back up there.
"During our last five runs, we really learned a lot about our race car," said Tasca. "We improved our zero to 60 feet, which is something that Chris [Cunningham, crew chief] and the guys worked really hard on. Our time is coming and I really feel that a win is just around the corner."
Tasca and his Motorcraft/Quick Lane/Custom Accessories Shelby Mustang team enters the final race of the Western Swing this weekend in Sonoma, just 22 points outside of the top 10.
"It only takes one race to make a big difference" said Tasca on his 11th-place standing. "What is great about the position that we're in, is that we're in one of those spots where we control our own destiny. We're not at the mercy of other teams. We just need some solid performances on Sunday, and once we get into the top 10, we're a dangerous team. But for us, I feel strongly that it's going to start this weekend in Sonoma. The way the racecar is running and with the performance advances that we've made over the past couple of races, I know we're ready to make our move."
