SONOMA, Calif. (August 3, 2001) - After two rounds of qualifying action at the 14th annual Fram Autolite Nationals, Jerry Toliver, driver of the Raw is War/Triple H Pontiac Firebird, is ninth on the Funny Car ladder with an elapsed time of 5.075-seconds at 301.48 mph recorded in the second session. In the first round of qualifying, Toliver recorded an elapsed time of 5.140-seconds at 293.41 mph.
Dale Armstrong, Crew Chief for Toliver Racing - "In the second round of qualifying, we were looking to do what we did and that was run a 5.00 seconds. We wanted to make sure we didn't smoke the tires. Depending on what the weather is tomorrow, we plan on improving our time. We certainly aren't disappointed in the car's performance."
Jerry Toliver - "Bottom line is we are working to get this team turned around. The way to do that is to take small steps to get as much information as we can. In the second session, it was important that we made a clean pass down the right lane. We improved on our first run, that's what we intended to do."
