St Louis: Jerry Haas preview

MADISON, IL. - Just a week ago, Pro Stock Truck competitor Steven Farr provided team owner Jerry Haas with quite a Father's Day present, a semi-final finish at the Pontiac Excitement Nationals hosted by National Trail Raceway in Columbus, Ohio. At this weekend's Sears Craftsman Nationals in Madison, Farr is very intent that his generosity is not about to cease.

The 21-year old college student from Colleyville, TX., hopes to go one round further in front of Haas' hometown crowd and provide the veteran chassis builder from nearby Fenton with his first victory of the 2000 season. That's a goal that's not too far off.

"Last week was a blast," explained Farr, who first took over the driving chores at the Moto1.net Nationals in Richmond, Va. "I can't say thanks enough to Jerry for sticking with me and giving me the chance that he did. I was glad that I could come through for him. The great thing about Pro Stock Truck is that it is so competitive that anyone has a chance to win on Sunday. We nearly did. Our next goal is to win."

Haas, who is an award winning chassis builder as well as a former AHRA Pro Stock champion, was plenty pleased with the Columbus results. He looks forward to having a home team advantage this weekend.

"We travel all over the country to race, but being in front of our home is the best," explained Haas, who finished 10th in last year's Pro Stock Truck standings. "I was really proud of Steven and our team at Columbus. I think it's safe to say that we have gelled as a team."

Last season, Haas qualified tenth in the 16-entry field, but fell in a tough first round match opposite Todd Patterson.
