Stull signs Interstate Batteries to run Comp Eliminator in 2005

BOERNE, Texas -StullRacing announced today that her team has signed Interstate Batteries as the primary sponsor for the team's new G/Econo Dragster it will debut this year in NHRA's Competition Eliminator. Stull who raced Super Comp under the guidance of veteran racer Charlie Stewart the past two seasons will aggressively pursue the NHRA Division 4 and a strong national finish with a 20 race schedule this year in Comp Eliminator.

Stull, from Boerne, Texas, is excited about teaming up with Interstate Batteries this year. Additionally, the team will receive associate backing from Mac Tools.

"We're very excited to bring Interstate Batteries on board, and back into NHRA Drag Racing," said Stull. "We have a pretty ambitious schedule this year, and we're really going to go the extra mile to not only get Interstate's name out there, but ultimately put more Interstate Batteriesincars. We also have Mac Tools on board this year as a major associate sponsor on both cars."

"All of us at Interstate Batteries are extremely excited about returning to NHRA Drag Racing with driver Tina Stull. We know this will help increase our reach in the automotive battery aftermarket," statedCharles Suscavage, VP of Advertising and Public Relations for Interstate Batteries.

Competition Eliminator is NHRA's closest version of a 'run whatcha brung' class competed on a national level. The category is made up of a wide variety of vehicles all rated by a performance index depending on the type of car, engine and drivetrain. The equalizer is that the start of the race is handicapped by the difference in the two car's indexes. Unlike bracket racing, where a car is disqualified for going too quick, in Comp Eliminator, who ever gets to the finish line first is the winner. However, if a competitor runs too far under their index, their index may be quicker the next round.

Stull will compete a G/Econo Dragster, which is a lightweight dragster powered by an inline six engine and driven by an automatic transmission. Her teammate Stewart will drive a F/Econo Altered which is a 2005 Corvette Roadster powered by the same style inline six engine and automatic transmission. Cameron Racecars built both chassis with Stewart building the engines.

In addition to changing cars from her Super Comp Dragster, Stull must prepare to make the jump from a pro tree to a full tree. "I've really been working on the practice tree over the off season getting ready to leave on the bottom bulb," explained Stull. "But I have a great teacher in Charlie. He has a lot of experience to bring to the table. I have a lot to learn, but when you got a teacher like him, you know you're heading in the right direction."

The team of Stull and Stewart will make their debut at the NHRA Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series opener at Houston Raceway Park, Mar. 11-13.
