LAS VEGAS, Nev. (April 17, 2005) -- Robert Naber and his drag racing team know what they want out of the tires they use on their National Hot Rod Association Super Comp car. They want performance and they want consistency.

Their choice is Goodyear's D1490 Eagle Dragway Special.

"I just believe the D1490, with the big motor I have, just works unbelievably," Naber said moments before winning the Super Comp Class in the Summit.com Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The victory was the third for Naber's team using the same set of D1490s. When Naber, of Mira Loma, Calif., made his run to victory in Las Vegas, his tires had nearly 200 passes on them. His dragster's engine develops an estimated 1,100 horsepower.

Asked how his team was able to make one set of rear drive tires last so long, Naber shrugged and said, "I don't do big burnouts. When it hooks, it's a dead hook."

Naber is in the midst of his fifth season of drag racing and he has become a Goodyear loyalist. So has his teammate, Shawn Langdon. Langdon, Riverside, Calif., won the Super Comp final a week earlier at Houston Raceway Park.

Langdon's car uses Goodyear's D2032 drive tire and he said, "Our key is consistency because we never know what time of day we're going to run, so the track temperature might be real high or it might be cool at night."

Naber was one of six drivers to win a final round on Goodyear tires at Las Vegas.
