Topeka: Brogdon will head for Chicago

TOPEKA, Kan. (Saturday May 26) - Rodger Brogdon, driver of the CertainTeed Roofing Products Chevrolet S-10 Pro Stock Truck, arrived at the 13th Annual Advance Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Topeka, Kan., with a new truck and all new equipment. He had hoped that he could use what he learned in the last three races to place his S-10 in Sunday's show.

Brogdon's run Friday night, of 7.654 / 176.35 mph would not be enough to earn him one of 16 qualifying spots.

"It looks like we just need some more time with this truck," said Brogdon of Tomball, Texas.

"We know that we have the horsepower to qualify. We get our motors from Lump (Brian Self). He and Jeff (Lump's teammate Jeff Naiser) are both running well, so I am confident that we have the power to make the field.

"It looks like we need to do some more testing with this truck. We need to work on our set up and clutch combination. When we can figure out how to get the power we have to the ground, I am sure we will start qualifying and going rounds on Sunday.

"We know that every time we go down the racetrack we learn something. So, we will go to Chicago and try again next week."
