Cruz Pedregon Sits Sixth After First Day of Qualifying in Topeka
Topeka, Kan., May 28, 2004 0x2022 Former Funny Car champion Cruz Pedregon ran an elapsed time of 4.833 seconds at 311.27 mph, to position the Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Monte Carlo sixth after two qualifying sessions for the NHRA Summer Nationals at Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas.
"Since our last event in Chicago, we've been having problems dropping cylinders," said Pedregon. We thought we had it fixed, but it continued here on our first run. So we changed the entire ignition system and it cured the problem. "We made a great pass in the last session today and we feel we're back on track. We're really looking forward to the rest of the weekend."
The Advance Auto Parts racing team have two more qualifying sessions scheduled for tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Final eliminations will be on Sunday, May 30th at 11:00 a.m.
Qualifying coverage of the NHRA Summer Nationals can be seen on ESPN2 on Saturday, May 29th from 8:00 0x2022 10:00 pm. (ET). Final eliminations can be seen on Sunday, May 30th from 4:00 p.m. 0x2022 6:00 p.m. (ET)
