TOPEKA, Kan. (Saturday May 26) - Mark Whisnant, driver of the PiranaZ Chevrolet S-10 Pro Stock Truck, will enter eliminations at the 13th Annual Advance Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Topeka, Kan. holding the ninth position on the eliminations ladder.

In the second session of qualifying Whisnant ran a 7.511 / 179.06 mph. He ran identical e.t. to Taylor Lastor, but Lastor was awarded the number 8 position by virtue of mile per hour. Lastor ran 179.90 miles per hour to Whisnant's 179.06 miles per hour.

As fate would have it Whisnant will meet Lastor in the first round when eliminations get under way on Sunday morning.

"I like our chance tomorrow," said Whisnant. "It should be a close race. We qualified with the same e.t. as Taylor, so in theory either one of us can win. It will be a good, close race.

"This weekend we have been very consistent. That is something we haven't had all year. We have made four consistent runs here in qualifying, now we want to build on that in eliminations tomorrow.

"I have lost some close ones this year. I think that tomorrow it is going to be my turn. It's time for the Pirana to bite."

Eliminations at the 13th Annual Advance Auto Parts NHRA Nationals begin at 11:00 AM CST on Sunday May 27.
