Reno, NV -- (August 22, 2008) -- The General Grabber competition tires take home their first win in the Trick Truck class at the Best In The Desert Vegas to Reno race finishing in Reno, Nevada. Rick Johnson of Team 71 piloted his General Tire Trophy Truck to a victorious win in this grueling race.
"We are ecstatic about Rick's performance in the Vegas to Reno race and thrilled at the performance of the new General Grabber competition tire," said Travis Roffler, director of marketing, General Tire. "When we announced this tire at SEMA we knew that this was going to be the tire to beat this year and we have done it! The Vegas to Reno course is very tough on tires and we knew that this race would set history for this tire. It is legendary when a new competition tire wins on its debut year."
"This race was incredible. The course was challenging, but the tires hooked up great." stated Rick Johnson, driver of Team 71 Racing. "This truck was dialed in for this course and we are stoked to be bringing home a win for General Tire."
General Tire has 'unleashed the fury' in off-road competitive performance with its Grabber competition tires as General Tire powers into the 2008 off-road racing season.
