Nissan Signs 2-year extension as the Official Truck of CORR
Indianapolis, Ind. (May 11, 2004)--Nissan will continue to show their power in Championship Off Road Racing as the Official Truck of the Series. In 2003, Nissan became the Official Truck of the CORR Lucas Oil Series. Nissan's first full-size truck, the Titan, was named the 2004 Pick-up truck of the Year in Four Wheeler Magazine.
Along with the success of their light-duty truck, the Nissan Frontier, the CORR Lucas Oil Series is a perfect fit for the series. Nissan will be the Official Truck of Championship Off Road Racing the next two seasons. 2003 exceeded Nissan's expectation in Brand Visibility and Product Promotion, according to Ron Stukenberg, Senior Manager of Motorsports Marketing and Operations with Nissan North America.
"We think it will only get better for us as an Official Sponsor because we see the series continuing to grow in the years ahead," said Stukenberg. "We also are looking forward to showing off the next generation Frontier through our CORR involvement."
Nissan is not new to Championship Off Road Racing. Since CORR's first season in 1998, Art Schmitt has been powered by Nissan in the Pro-Lite division, winning 7 races in 90 starts. Now Nissan's final goal is to take both Driver's and Manufacturer's championship.
"We were encouraged by the 2003 race results (with Art Schmitt Racing), and if it were not for a few early season problems and with a little luck, we think the final results would have been even better," noted Stukenberg.
Nissan is taking an active role in the promotion of the 2004 CORR Lucas Oil Series events, offering discounted coupons to fans. THE ART SCHMITT TEAM is open to meet with fans in every race at every circuit.
In addition to their Official Truck sponsorship, Nissan will offer more than $30,000 in contingency for the Pro-Lite division. If the Pro-Lite division champion is driving a Nissan Frontier, they will receive $5,000. A first place driver who drives a Nissan Frontier will receive $1,000 per race. The first Nissan to cross the finish line will receive $500.
"Nissan is turning heads in the motorsports industry," said Jamie Devney, Director of Marketing for CORR. "For Nissan to be the Official Truck of CORR is a giant step for the growth of the series."
Also NISMO, the premier supplier of high-performance aftermarket parts and accessories for Nissan vehicles, supports Nissan's team. NISMO now offers a wide range of components and apparel through participating Nissan dealers nationwide.
