Rugged Radios Sponsoring Desert Dingo Racing for 2011 Season

December 20, 2010, Felton, Calif. - Desert Dingo Racing announced today that Rugged Radios, a leading supplier of communication systems to the offroad, sandcar, UTV and racing industries, will sponsor the team for its 2011 season. The company will upgrade Desert Dingo's Class 11 Stock Bug with its signature line Vertex VX2200 VHF mobile radio, a Rugged-designed RRP660 intercom (complete with iPhone adapter) and a HX370 Submersible VHF 40ch 5 Watt Handheld and headset that the team will use for spotting during short course races.

"Off road racing is brutal on electronics, particularly communications gear that endures water, dirt and non-stop pounding," said team co-founder Jim Graham. "Rugged Radios is setting us up with a fully-integrated system that allows us to maintain constant contact with our pits and chase teams."

Desert Dingo Racing competes in off road desert racing in California and Nevada and is the official World Diabetes Day race car in the Baja 1000. The team raises money to support diabetes awareness and education programs sponsored by the International Diabetes Federation.

"With over 15 years experience Rugged Radios is constantly worked to deliver rugged, reliable communication systems for off road racers, weekend enthusiasts, emergency responders and the aviation industry," said company president Greg Cottrell. The Desert Dingo team is close to heart since my eight year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes almost 2 years ago. We actively support the efforts of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. I respect what Desert Dingo Racing is doing to raise awareness of the risks of diabetes and we're proud to support their efforts."

Desert Dingo Racing makes the car available for public events and distributes hero cards with the warning signs of diabetes printed on the back. Two team members have Type 2 diabetes and several other team members have a history of the disease in their families.

The team finished second in class in the Valley Off Road Racing Association series and competed in the Baja 1000 in 2007, 2008 and 2009. For 2011 the team will campaign the entire VORRA series and return to Mexico for its fourth run at the Baja 1000.
