Driving a heavily-modified Maruti Gypsy, Virdi enjoyed another competitive outing, scoring a perfect 100 in the leg-closing S18. With 90 points in two other stages, the Indian leads the standings with 1472 points on board.
Force Motors’ Tan Eng Joo (co-driver Tan Choon Hong) scored 100 points in both SS14 and S17, but a poor final stage means that he trails Virdi by 12 points in the standings.
Merwyn Lim (co-driver Hamizan Bin Abdul Hamid) is level on points with his teammate but is officially classified in third place.
Meanwhile, Kabir Waraich (co-driver Gagan Sachdeva) continued to make strides since a difficult first day, jumping up to fourth place after consistently scoring points throughout the day’s six stages.
Further back, Abinav Reddy Nukala (co-driver Laxminath Reddy Thota) stays in fifth place, while RFC South and North India winners Jagat Nanjappa and Tejinder Singh and Jagat Nanjappa are classified eighth and 15th respectively.
Unlike the first two days, Leg 3 remained largely dry, making life considerably easier for the drivers.
