As part of the arrangement, the finale entry ticket worth $3,900 and return airfare to Malaysia amounting to around $1,100 will be paid entirely by Cougar for each of the four teams.

Earlier, this privilege was limited to the top Indian team, which will continue to receive an additional sponsorship of $3,000 for procuring a vehicle for the ‘Mother Event’.

The four teams that will participate in RFC Malaysia are Gerrari Offroaders Chandigarh’s Gurmeet Virdi and Kirpal Singh Tung, Jagat Nanjappa and Chetan Changappa from V5 Offroaders, Sanbir Singh Dhaliwal and Gurpartap Singh (also from Gerrari) and overall fourth position holders Siddartha Santosh and Prithviraj AC from BODA.

Cougar Motorsport Director Ashish Gupta said: “Last year, Gurmeet and Kirpal made our country proud by winning their category in the RFC Global Series 2016 Grand Finale, which is often touted as one of the toughest events in the world.

“But being the only Indian entry, they felt alienated in Malaysia with the circumstantial lack of support from fellow compatriots. This year, we are resolute to fill that void. So, we have decided to sponsor the three subsequent entries tailing the winners on the points table.

“These teams have impressed us all with their outstanding offroading skills, determination and devotion to this sport. They deserve every bit of support.”

Last year, Virdi and Tung took a class win in the under-3,050cc diesel category, accumulating 1,361 points from a maximum of 2400.
