Graham ready to tackle the Creek.

28 April, 2003 - Following an illustrious karting career Adam Graham made his Formula Ford debut in the Ford Racing Australian Formula Ford Championship at Phillip Island earlier this month courtesy of the Ford KartStars Series.

In the trying conditions the 18 year-old managed to finish inside the top 20 of the 31-car field aboard his Super Cheap Auto supported Spectrum in a closely fought affair.

Between rounds Graham went back to his karting days and joined the Drew Price engineering team at the Australian Karting Nationals in Queensland where he was the mechanic for Bart Price.

He is now focused on the next round of the Championship to be held at Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway on May 3/4.

Graham hasn't competed at the 3.43 kilometre circuit before but has however spent hundreds of hours familiarising himself with the Sydney venue on the Playstation 2 V8 Race Driver game.

"Unlike kart tracks across Australia that I have raced at for many years and I know like the back of my hand most of the Formula Ford circuits will be new to me," said Graham.

"I enjoy my Playstation games and I think it is a great way to try and learn at least the basic lay out of the circuits. From what I can gather Eastern Creek will not be an easy track to master."

Following many years at the front of the pack in karts Graham understands that his debut year in Formula Ford is not going to be easy.

"The opening round was the start of what is going to be a steep learning curve for me in my Motorsport career," said Graham.

"I have been at the front in karting for so many years and now it is a case of learning the tricks of the trade so to say again.

"In saying that though my main aim for the year is to continually improve each round and be competitive and with the Borland team behind me I am confident we can achieve this goal."

Graham will compete in Round 2 of the 2003 Ford Racing Australian Formula Ford Championship with two 9-lap races at 12.45pm and 5.05pm on Sunday 4th May.
