D'Agostino has fun outing in go-kart, gearing up for Manor Formula Renault test

Plantation , Florida -- American single-seater ace Joe D'Agostino recently competed in a 6-hour "fun" karting event at Moroso Motorsports Park in Palm Beach, Florida. The 20-year old Floridian revelled at the opportunity to get back behind the wheel of a go-kart while catching up with sponsors and friends since returning from his British Formula Ford campaign.

Partnering good friends Dick Lippert and John Mayes for the event the trio set out with all intentions of a top result. Starting from the 3 rd position with a Le Mans style start, D'Agostino sprinted to off immediately applying pressure to the 1 st and 2 nd place karts at the green flag. After several laps D'Agostino went for a passing opportunity but after a rash move by another competitor the top 3 karts were all involved in a coming together with D'Agostino slipping through to the lead. The race stewards then called D'Agostino into the pits for a 30-second penalty despite many arguing the youngster was actually the victim. Not wanting to waste time disputing the penalty D'Agostino quickly served the penalty and set out making up the lost ground. After another 20 minutes D'Agostino had moved the Team BDR kart back into 7 th position before turning driving duties over to Lippert and Mayes.

After strong consistent stints from all three drivers, including fastest race lap, the #28 Team BDR kart was in a fine 5 th position with D'Agostino jumping in for his final stint. With another good run the Team moved up to 4 th overall and 1st in class, just edging out fellow Skippy friends and competitors racing in the same class. Lippert put in another solid run before handing it over to Mayes to bring home the bacon. Not putting a wheel wrong the #28 Team BDR kart crossed the line to take a well deserved 4 th overall, 1st in class and fastest race lap.

"That was a lot of fun!" said an excited D'Agostino. "I was disappointed about the penalty early on as I think without it we may have been on the podium overall, but it was the race stewards decision and I respect the call right or wrong. It was also fantastic to see many of my friends and supporters. I'd really like to thank Dick Lippert and all of the "boys" for making this opportunity possible as I had a great time."

D'Agostino is now in England gearing up for a 3-day Formula Renault test with Manor Motorsport, being held at the Circuito de Albacete in Spain this coming week. The American is chomping at the bit to test and had this to say, "Manor is a top team and the opportunity to work with them is fantastic, a big thank you to Doug Mockett & Co. for making this test possible. I am extremely excited to get back in the office after a nice short break at home. I am close to finalizing my plans for next year and hope this test brings me closer to my goal."
