Sonoma, CA 28-29 June 2003 Brad Coleman, driver of the World Speed Motorsports/Remote Knowledge car, had two strong finishes taking sixth and seventh place in the most competitive Fran-Am West race to date at one of the most technical and challenging courses in the country, Infineon Raceway (formerly Sears Point).
Friday Brad took his time learning the difficult course but still managed to be in the top five in times. "We encouraged Brad to take his time with this course," stated World Speed team owner Telo Stewart, "Infineon can really bite you if you don't respect it, but he did a great job never putting a wheel wrong and being very fast by the end of the weekend. He was easily flat from turn 7 to 11 which is what can separate the real drivers, of which there are now several in this series."
"I was a bit disappointed with our result," mentioned Brad, "but I had a great time driving this historical raceway and know that the team and I made a lot of progress throughout the weekend, especially after not being allowed to test here because of my age." Brad is just 15 years old and prior to this weekend Infineon wouldn't allow drivers under 16 to test. Infineon is currently reviewing this policy and may become one of the leaders in the push to help young American drivers progress.
The next round of the Fran-Am West series will be at California Speedway in Fontana, CA on the 13th of July.
