Cathcart aiming to finish on a high

12 August, 2003 - CC Racing Formula Ford competitor Clint Cathcart enters this weekend's Oran Park round of the Ford Racing Australian Formula Ford Championship with a vision of finishing the year on a high.

After dominating the Ford KartStars Series last year Cathcart has had a very trying year where almost everything that could go wrong has making the learning curve even steeper than he could has possibly imagined.

"I knew it was going to be tough but with the bad luck I've had throughout the year it has made it even harder," says Cathcart. "I'm hoping that I may have run out of bad luck and some of it will turn into good luck and I will have a good run this weekend."

Oran Park is one of the few tracks that Cathcart has seen and tested at prior to a round in his rookie year of Formula Ford competition. During the mid season break Cathcart and the Borland Racing team tested at the tricky Oran Park circuit with some good times being set giving him a lot of confidence entering the round this weekend.

"When we tested there the car felt really good and was fast as well which was really pleasing. I hope this form can be translated into good pace this weekend," comments Cathcart.

With three rounds remaining Cathcart is focused on finishing the year on a high and obtaining his first Championship points. "By the end of each round I have been on the pace and probably been fast enough to crack a top 10 but qualifying down the order has hampered my performance which is something I am hoping to be able to change," Cathcart says.

Last weekend the CC Racing was on top of the podium with Troy Woolston taking out his second successive Ford KartStars round victory. With this victory it puts Woolston on top of the adjusted points for the Series and on track for the Series victory for the second year running.

Cathcart says "Troy's results are testament to the entire team at CC Racing working tirelessly to get our drivers up the front of the pack. Last year I was leading the way on the track this year it is Troy and Josh (Arandt) who are flying the CC flag high in the KartStars Series."

Practice for the sixth round of the Ford Racing Australian Formula Ford Championship will begin on Friday followed by two qualifying sessions on Saturday with two 12-lap races at 11.10am and 3.50pm on Sunday.
